KOGA - Kickboxing and Yoga combo

Kim Raubenheimer - Sunday, April 18, 2010

KOGA?
What is KOGA?
It is a combination of kickboxing and yoga.    www.kogaworkout.com

How can the two work together?
Well I had to find out for myself and experience a class this past saturday at Cambridge Athletic Club.  The demonstration class was taught by the creator Jon KOGA.  I love kickboxing and yoga.  But it was so much more than just kickboxing and yoga; with plyometric moves, use of stabilizers, and concentration on form and breath.  Counts of 4 make it easy to follow.  At the end of each set, we were doing yoga poses that ties into the muscles we just worked.  Simple effective moves.  I was sweating, and my legs were shaking; but I did not feel like I was hit by a truck at the end.  I burned lots of calories, had a complete body and mind workout.  I highly recommend it.

Stay tuned for more classes coming to the Boston and Cambridge area!!  Please send me an email if you are interested in learning more.

82 year old Boston marathoner certainly not sitting around

Kim Raubenheimer - Friday, April 09, 2010
With the Boston Marathon around the corner, lots of stories are out and about of runners young and old.
Being a fan of the Boston Marathon and having run it 3x myself, I always love reading the stories.
How about running the Boston Marathon for the 32nd time?  82 year old John DiComandrea has and was the oldest official competitor last year.  And he will be running again this year.  Hats off to John and may the wind be at your back!

Core work anywhere

Kim Raubenheimer - Thursday, April 08, 2010
No time for strengthening your core?  Sure you do.  Focus on good posture no matter where you are.  Especially while you are sitting.  Shoulders down away from your ears and pulled back.  Deep breath in belly will rise, exhale, pull that belly in.  Keep breathing and maintain that belly pulled in.  Every little bit adds up.
